Lagos is a small but buzzling historic town. You can wander through the narrow cobbled stone streets just enjoying the ambiance. There are many places to have a drink or a good meal. At night Lagos really comes to life and it is famous for its nightlife. 

Lagos has a very bubbly and lively Marina with lots of bars and restaurants. All the boat trips from Lagos start here .The Marina is also an excellent location to check out all the different activities you can do on the sea by boat or kayak such as Dolphin watching or exploring the sea caves just to name a few. The Marina is at 10 min walking distance from Casa Eleonora.

Lagos and surrounding areas have some of the most beautiful beaches in the Algarve. They are all different with all their own typical ambiance. You may find big long stretched sandy beaches as well as very sheltered little beaches some only accessible  by boat or kayak. 

Some of the more known are : Meia Praia, Porto de Mos, Praia da Luz, Praia da Marinha, Praia do Burgau, Salema Beach, Cabanas, Praia Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo, Praia da Canavial.

If you like being on the sea there are many options. You can e.g. go dolphin watching and if you are lucky you might even see an Orca Whale. Or you may rent your own boat with or without a skipper. In the Marina you will find all information you need

There is a lot of choice when it comes to playing golf in Lagos. All of them are different and offer a unique experience. In less than  a 5 minute drive there are 3 golf clubs that offer everything for the beginner or more advanced players: Palmares, Boavista and Penina. Playing in any of these is a special 5 senses experience because of the elements of the ocean, the sun, the breeze and the breathtaking views. In a range of 15 km there are another 4: Parque Floresta, Espiche, Morgado and Alto. 

In Lagos is an excellent shop to hire clubs. 

If you like to watch the sunset at only 25 minutes drive from Casa Eleonora you can watch the most amazing sunset ever. The historic Cabo Sao Vincente located northwest from Sagres  is the most Southwesterly point in Europe. Take a picnic and a good bottle with you, relax and you will enjoy a beautiful scenery. It can be a little windy and cold so take a blanket or jacket with you.

There is a wide range of restaurant options in Lagos and surrounding towns. You can literally find it all from local made  "petiscos", that are Portuguese tapas, to Michelin star restaurants. Of course fish plays an important part and you will not find fresher fish or seafood than here. 

If you prefer to cook yourself you can go to the fish mine and buy your own to put on the BBQ at night. 

Portugal is also well known for its wines. You will find very good quality wine for very fair prices even in more exclusive restaurants.

The Benagil sea cave is probably one of the most famous and prettiest sea cave in the Algarve. It can only be reached by the sea by boat or by kayak. There are many different boat tours. You can even take a trip from the Marina in Lagos and explore the stunning coast line to Benagil. Or you can book a trip from Benagil. It is about 25 minutes drive from Casa Eleonora 

There are many opportunities to walk or hike. You can e.g. walk over the cliffs alongside the sea from Porto de Mos to Praia da Luz. Or you walk to Ponte da Piedade and enjoy the incredible panoramic views

If you like a little more the beach club vibe there are many different options. Just to mention 2 in Lagos there is Duna Beach club or in nearby Portimao you will find No Solo Agua.
